Which one goes with my mother had told me?

Options: mi madre me lo había contado · nunca lo había abierto del todo · este poema fue escrito…

Show answer

my mother had told me → mi madre me lo había contado

How it works

Spanish tells history with the preterite for the main events (vivió), the pluperfect for what had already happened before (me lo había contado), and the ser passive when the thing matters more than who did it (fue escrito, fue declarada).

Good to know

The participle agrees with the subject: la casa fue declarada protegida.
