Se + presente, poi il futuro

Make plans that depend on something: if…, then….

From the scene Se c'è il sole, andremo (If it's sunny, we'll go)

In short

Real possibility: se + present, then the future (or present): se c'è il sole, ci porterà.

Your turn

Which one goes with if it rains, we won't go out?

Options: se piove, non usciremo · se c'è il sole, ci porterà · se partiamo presto, torneremo

Show answer

if it rains, we won't go out → se piove, non usciremo

How it works

For a real possibility, put se (if) with the present and the result in the future: se c'è il sole, ci porterà.

Good to know

In relaxed speech the result can stay in the present too: se piove, non usciamo. The future after se is also correct (se pioverà…).

Good to know

The se part can come first or second.
