How it works
Before a number or an amount, 'more than' is più di: più di cento specie, più di mezz'ora.
Good to know
To compare with a noun, Italian also uses di, which merges with the article: più bella dei Caraibi. 'The most … in' takes di too: l'isola più bella di tutta Europa.
