Options: Reden ist Silber, Schweigen ist Gold · lieber den Spatz in der Hand als die Taube auf dem Dach · wer weiß, wofür es gut ist

Show answer

a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush → lieber den Spatz in der Hand als die Taube auf dem Dach

How it works

A Sprichwort is a fixed saying with a lesson, quoted whole and never changed; some keep old forms (Morgenstund without its -e).

Good to know

Don't translate them word for word: German and English often use different pictures — a sparrow and a pigeon on the roof in German, two birds in a bush in English.
