How it works

French often uses a noun where English uses a whole clause. Dès + noun means “as soon as / right from” (dès l'atterrissage).

Good to know

À + noun means “at the moment of” (à notre arrivée, au décollage).

Good to know

This is shorter than dès que + a whole clause, and you hear it all the time when travelling.
