How it works

Many feelings use avoir, or ça with a verb: avoir honte, avoir hâte, ça m'énerve, ça me rend nerveux.

Good to know

If the person who feels is also the one who acts, use de + infinitive: vous avez hâte d'y aller.

Good to know

If someone else acts, use que + subjunctive: j'ai honte qu'elle me voie.

Good to know

When the feeling is in the past, modern French still uses the present subjunctive, not the literary imperfect one: j'avais honte que les filles me regardent.
