Spanish grammar
Querer que + subjunctive
Ask someone to do something.
From the scene Quiero que vengas (I want you to come)
In short
Want someone else to do it? Use quiero que + subjunctive. Doing it yourself? Use quiero + infinitive.

Options: quiero que vengas · quiere que comas · quieres que traiga
Show answer

How it works
When you want SOMEONE ELSE to do something, Spanish says “I want that you come”: quiero que vengas.
Your turn
Pick the word that fits the line.
Sí. Mi madre quiere que (blank) tú.
Options: vengas · vienes
Show answer

Good to know
After quiero que, the verb takes the subjunctive, a special verb form for wishes: vienes → vengas, traigo → traiga, es → sea.
Good to know
Espero que (I hope that) works the same way. If you want to do it yourself, skip que: quiero venir.
