All past tenses together

Tell a story that mixes the perfect, preterite, imperfect and pluperfect naturally.

From the scene Todo lo que hemos vivido (Everything we have lived through)

In short

Mix past tenses: perfect for a whole period up to now, preterite for events, imperfect for how things were, pluperfect for before.

Your turn

Which one goes with I was working?

Options: todo lo que hemos vivido · se casó Tomás · trabajaba

Show answer

I was working → trabajaba

How it works

A real story about the past mixes tenses naturally.

Good to know

The perfect for looking back over a whole period (hemos vivido, hemos cambiado), the preterite for a finished single event (llegaron, se casó), the imperfect for how things were (trabajaba), and the pluperfect for what had already happened before that (habías perdido).
