Italian grammar
Qualcosa, niente; mancare
Say that something — or nothing — is missing.
From the scene Non manca niente (Nothing is missing)
In short
Qualcosa = something, niente = nothing (with non after the verb). Mancare agrees: manca, mancano.
- something qualcosa
- nothing niente
- nothing is missing non manca niente
- is anything else missing? manca qualcos'altro?
- the frying pan is missing manca la padella

nothing → niente
How it works
Qualcosa means something and niente means nothing. Mancare (to be missing) agrees with what's missing: manca la padella (one thing), mancano le chiavi (more than one).
