Italian grammar
Per e di: per sabato, di mattina
Choose per for purpose, recipient, reason and dates ahead — and di for times of day.
From the scene Per o di? (Per or di?)
In short
Per is for purpose, a person, a reason or a date ahead. For a time of day use di: di mattina.
Your turn
Which one goes with in the morning (time of day)?
Options: per te · di mattina · per sabato
Show answer
in the morning (time of day) → di mattina
How it works
Per covers purpose, a recipient, a reason and a date ahead: i biglietti per sabato, un regalo per te, per il tuo compleanno.
Good to know
But for a time of day, Italian uses di + the time word: usciamo di mattina, not "per la mattina".
