Lo / la / li / le + passato prossimo

Say what you found, saw, left or lost, using lo / la / li / le.

From the scene L'ho vista sulle scale (I saw it on the stairs)

In short

Lo / la / li / le go before avere, and the participle agrees with them: le ho trovate.

Your turn

Which one goes with I didn't see them (i passi)?

Options: non li ho visti · le ho trovate · l'ho lasciata

Show answer

I didn't see them (i passi) → non li ho visti

How it works

To avoid repeating a noun, put lo/la/li/le before the verb, matching the noun.

I found them (le impronte) le ho trovate

Elena

Le ho trovate sulle scale stamattina.

I found them on the stairs this morning.

Your turn

What fills the gap?

Watch out

With avere, the past participle must agree with lo/la/li/le: le impronte → le ho trovate, i passi → non li ho visti, la pianta → l'ho lasciata, le chiavi → le ho perse.

Common mistake

Not Li or La here. Le impronte = feminine plural.

Le ho trovate sulle scale stamattina.

I found them on the stairs this morning.
