Say that people do things to each other with ci, vi and si, and make it clear with a vicenda.

From the scene Si scrivono tutti i giorni (They write to each other every day)

In short

Each other: ci, vi, si with a plural verb. Add a vicenda to make it clear; past takes essere: si sono conosciuti.

Your turn

Which one goes with have they met each other in person yet??

Options: Pilar e io ci rispettiamo · si sono già conosciuti di persona? · si scrivono ogni giorno

Show answer

have they met each other in person yet? → si sono già conosciuti di persona?

How it works

With a plural subject, ci, vi and si can mean "each other": si scrivono means they write to each other.

Good to know

It looks just like a reflexive, so the context tells you which one is meant. To make "each other" clear, add a vicenda or l'un l'altro.

Good to know

In the passato prossimo these verbs take essere, and the participle agrees: si sono conosciuti.
