How it works
You already know wegen. Aufgrund and infolge are its formal, neutral cousins for official texts, and they take the genitive: aufgrund der steigenden Mieten.
Good to know
In speech, schuld sein (an) blames a bad cause (die Touristen sind schuld, Frau Elena ist an allem schuld), while dank gives credit for a good one (dank mir, dank Nachbarinnen wie …).
