Spanish grammar

No + verb; no … nada

Say no and refuse things politely.

From the scene No quiero nada (I don't want anything)

In short

Put no right before the verb, and before me / te if there is one. With nada, keep the no.

Your turn

Which one goes with I haven't got any money?

Options: no me gustan los plátanos · no tengo dinero · no cocino

Show answer

I haven't got any money → no tengo dinero

How it works

To make a sentence negative, put no right before the verb: no cocino, no tengo dinero.

Good to know

If there is a little word like me, no goes before it: no me gustan. With nada (nothing), Spanish keeps the no as well: no quiero nada.

Good to know

That double negative is correct.
