Spanish grammar
Llevar / traer, ir / venir — whose point of view?
Say whether you take, bring, go or come — from whose point of view.
From the scene ¿Lo llevo o lo traigo? (Do I take it or bring it?)
In short
Ir and llevar move away from the speaker; venir and traer move towards them. When called, answer ¡ya voy!
- I take them (up there) las llevo
- will you bring it to me? ¿me la traes?
- are you coming (to me)? ¿vienes?
- coming! (reply to a call) ¡ya voy!
- bring me tráeme

How it works
Llevar and ir = movement away from where the speaker is (las llevo arriba).
Good to know
Traer and venir = movement towards the speaker (¿me la traes?, ¿vienes?). One exception: when someone calls you, you answer ¡ya voy! — not vengo.
