Present figures and trends: se han duplicado, un aumento del, un descenso del, alcanzar, frente a.

From the scene Las ventas se han duplicado (Sales have doubled)

In short

Duplicar and triplicar take se when the figure is the subject. Use un aumento / descenso del, and frente a to compare.

Your turn

Which one goes with they have tripled?

Options: un descenso del diez por ciento · se han triplicado · las ventas se han duplicado

Show answer

they have tripled → se han triplicado

How it works

Duplicar and triplicar take se when the figure itself is the subject: las ventas se han duplicado (have doubled), se han triplicado.

Good to know

Without se, duplicar needs an object: mi cara duplica las ventas. As nouns, a change is un aumento or un descenso del diez por ciento.

Good to know

Alcanzar is to reach a figure, and frente a sets one figure against another.
