How it works

In the passato prossimo, "we" and "they" use abbiamo / hanno + participle (abbiamo parlato = we talked, hanno ascoltato = they listened), but arrivare takes essere: sono arrivati = they arrived.

Good to know

And never "hanno arrivato".

Watch out

With essere the participle agrees with the subject (arrivati, arrivate), with avere it normally stays the same (abbiamo parlato, not "abbiamo parlati").

Common mistake

Not Hanno parlato or Parlo here. We (Nuria + colleagues).

Male. Abbiamo parlato con la capo.

Bad. We talked with the boss.
