If + present, will: plans that depend on something

Make plans that depend on something: if…, then….

From the scene If it's sunny, we'll go

In short

Options: if it rains, we won't go out · if it's sunny, he'll take us · if we leave early, we'll be back for lunch

Show answer

rain → we stay in → if it rains, we won't go out

How it works

For a real possibility, use if + the present tense, and will for the result: if it's sunny, he'll take us.

Your turn

Pick the word that fits the line.

...Well, if Elena's going, (blank) too.

Options: I went · I'll go · I go

Show answer

Good to know

Don't use will after if here: if it rains, not if it will rain. The if part can come first or second.
