Gave + person + thing

Say who gave what to whom, in the past.

From the scene You gave me, I gave you

In short

Give becomes gave for everyone, followed by person, then thing. Questions use did + give.

Your turn

Which one goes with you gave + person + thing?

Options: I gave you a present · my parents gave him a new bicycle · you gave me some gloves

Show answer

you gave + person + thing → you gave me some gloves

How it works

Give is irregular: gave in the past, the same for every person, then the person, then the thing: she gave me gloves, my parents gave him a bicycle. Never "gived".

Your turn

Pick the word that fits the line.

I (blank) her a blue jumper. And Javi a red scarf.

Options: gived · gave to · gave

Show answer

I gave her a blue jumper. And Javi a red scarf.

Le di un jersey azul. Y a Javi, una bufanda roja.

Good to know

In questions, did carries the past, so use give: "What did you give your mother?", not "did you gave".
